A Rotaract club is sponsored by one or more Rotary clubs. While Rotary clubs serve as sponsors, Rotaract clubs decide how to organize and run their club and what projects and activities to carry out. They meet periodically (minimum of twice a month) to discuss ideas and projects, that fall under the various avenues of Rotaract. Rotaract clubs also help in establishing one’s professional network and is a platform for meeting new people. Several Rotaract clubs together form a Rotaract District.

Rotaract clubs are grouped in districts – the same districts as Rotary. Each district with more than one Rotaract club has an elected representative – the District Chairman – who has a team to help them. Rotary’s District Rotaract Officer is part of that team, and the two should work closely together. All Rotaract clubs within a district seek to work together, to benefit the community at large. Rotaract District 3220, governs all the Rotaract clubs in Sri Lanka and Maldives.

A member, as a part of any active Rotaract club, stands to gain many benefits. Firstly, the platform provides immeasurable opportunities to develop one’s self, both via the people you interact with, and the tasks that you undertake. With an emphasis on learning, Rotaract has the avenue of Professional Development, inculcating skills and traits such as teamwork, leadership, communication & project management, among other. In addition, Rotaract provides an unparalleled platform for the youth to give back to the society. The issues in society that you get exposed to, and the causes to which you contribute, both financially and otherwise, greatly expands one’s thinking and perspective, of things around us. The networks and friendships you form, that last well beyond one’s tenure in Rotaract, provides an additional reason to join the movement.
